However, according to the latest reports, although the performance of major semiconductor manufacturers in the second half of last year was not satisfactory, semiconductors, as South Korea's main export products, still performed well for the whole of last year.

South Korean semiconductor exports reached a record high of $130.86 billion (878.071 billion yuan) in 2022, up 1.7 percent from a year earlier, according to figures released by South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Thanks to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, South Korea has an obvious advantage in memory chips for many years, and the export volume of memory chips is also considerable. But while developing memory chips, South Korea is also making great efforts to develop non-memory chips, and their data also show that exports of non-memory chips reached $50 billion (about 335.5 billion yuan) last year, three consecutive years of double-digit growth.

In other products, OLED panels export $15.1 billion (about 101.321 billion yuan) and smartphones export $14.68 billion (about 98.503 billion yuan). Exports of ICT products, including semiconductors, OLED panels and smartphones, totaled $233.32 billion (about 1.57 trillion yuan), up 2.5 percent from a year earlier and the highest since 1996.
