By the end of 2022, the cumulative delivery orders of Meituan drones exceeded 120,000, of which more than 100,000 orders were completed in 2022, and more than 20,000 kinds of goods can be delivered. In terms of delivery time, the average delivery time of drones last year was about 12 minutes. Compared with the traditional distribution model, the improvement is nearly 150%, saving users nearly 30,000 hours of waiting time.
The Meituan drone delivery service began in 2017 and completed its first takeout order in early 2021, officially starting a regular trial operation, CTOnews.com learned from officials.
By the end of 2022, Meituan drones have landed in Shenzhen and Shanghai, covering 18 communities and office buildings, serving nearly 20, 000 households. In addition, Meituan said that they have cumulatively completed more than 120,000 single distribution tasks in the two years of normal trial operation, of which more than 100,000 orders were completed in 2022, an increase of more than 400% over the same period last year.
In terms of commodity supply, Meituan drones can deliver more than 20,000 kinds of goods, including catering, beauty makeup, fast consumption, Shang Chao and other types, and the new products of Apple iPhone and vivo can also be delivered through drones.
In addition, Meituan officially gave the data on the most popular products of last year. It is said that the top five order categories are fast food, Chinese dinner, milk tea drinks, Western-style snacks and snacks.
In terms of the number of users, Meituan said that last year's drone delivery service was mainly white-collar workers between the ages of 20 and 35, accounting for nearly 80% of the total, compared with nearly 10% of the traditional distribution model. In addition, Meituan said his users would prefer drone delivery services when buying afternoon tea, accounting for nearly 16 percent more orders from 14:00 to 17:00 every day than the traditional model.
