Martin Martin Sander, Ford's head of electric vehicles in Europe, said Ford had not made a final decision on its future partnership with Volkswagen in electric vehicles. He also stressed that Ford is open to working with other automakers to produce electric vehicles, and that potential future partners include Volkswagen or another company.

It is reported that Ford and Volkswagen have cooperated in many areas such as electric vehicles, self-driving vehicles and commercial vehicles. Two years ago, the two companies formed an alliance to allow Ford to use Volkswagen's MEB system to produce electric cars and to assemble Volkswagen batteries at Ford's plant in Cologne, Germany.

According to foreign media reports, Ford is expected to launch two electric vehicles using Volkswagen's MEB platform in 2023 and 2024. After the launch of the two all-electric vehicles, the company will use a self-designed electric vehicle architecture in future electric vehicles.

Sander said that the electric vehicle architecture designed by Ford will not be integrated in any form (with Volkswagen). It has a lot of functions and is very powerful.

Like most carmakers, Ford is trying to shift to a broader electrification of cars. In order to remain competitive and take the lead in the new era of smart connected electric vehicles, the company plans to invest more than $50 billion in the research and development of models and power battery technologies in the electrified field from 2022 to 2026.

According to foreign media reports, by 2026, Ford plans to sell 600000 electric vehicles a year in Europe. The company has said its passenger cars in Europe will be fully electric by 2030.
