CTOnews.com, January 18 (Xinhua)-- Samsung recently announced updates to Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 that allow watches to remotely control the zoom of paired smartphone cameras. The software update is now being rolled out to Galaxy Watch 5 watches in the United States.

The latest update comes with the firmware version R900XXU1AWA3. According to the change log, this update brings a new camera controller to Galaxy Watch 5. Now, when the user turns on the camera controller on the smartwatch, it not only displays the phone's camera preview and allows you to click the shutter button, but also supports controlling the zoom level. The user can zoom by kneading or rotating (virtual) the frame on the screen.

According to Samsung, the feature will only apply to Galaxy smartphones, which means that users will not be able to enable the feature if they pair Galaxy Watch 5 with Google Pixel or one plus smartphones.

The latest update is currently available only for the US version of Galaxy Watch 5, but is expected to be available for Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic watches devices worldwide in the next few days. Samsung's Wear OS smartwatch also recently supports the ability to use Google Maps alone.
