After the United States and Europe, Amazon began to provide air cargo services in India.
CTOnews.com, January 23 (Reuters)-Amazon launched its air cargo fleet in India on Monday to seek to expand and speed up delivery in one of its major markets.
India is the third market for Amazon Airlines after the United States and Europe. Amazon started the service in the United States in 2016 and operates a network of more than 110 aircraft flying to more than 70 locations around the world.
Amazon has partnered with Quikjet Cargo Airline Private Ltd, a Bangalore-based shipping company, to use a Boeing 737-800 jet to transport goods, Amazon said in a statement. Quikjet will ship goods from Amazon customers to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.
Amazon said the launch of Amazon Airlines will support more than 1.1 million sellers in the country.
CTOnews.com learned that Amazon uses its own ground delivery service for transportation and is working with Blue Dart Express Ltd (BLDT.NS), one of India's largest air cargo companies controlled by DPWGn.DE of Deutsche Post.
