After undoing design changes that made the app more like TikTok, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri admitted that the platform had pushed "too much video" to users.

The Instagram director admits that many photographers are unhappy with the way Instagram has focused on video, but "photos are always part of Instagram."

Mosseri pointed out that Instagram "paid too much attention" to videos last year, and now the platform will rebalance the number of photos and videos presented to users. Instagram takes into account how often a person likes and comments on photos and videos to determine which content will appear in their information stream first.

In addition, Instagram will continue to invest in video, as the content has contributed to higher overall engagement, but Instagram will not delete photos in the app. CTOnews.com learned that Instagram also recently announced that it would no longer push shopping on the app home page.
