Nokia to deploy its first 5G SA network in the Philippines
Nokia will create a 5G network design and proof of concept (POC) for Now Telecom to build the first 5G standalone (SA) network in the Philippines. Under the agreement, Nokia will design and implement pilot 5G networks at multiple sites in Greater Manila.
Stefan Wilhelm, Head of Consulting at Nokia Bell Labs, said: "Bell Labs Consulting's research will provide Now Telecom with the analysis, design and planning needed to implement the 5G SA network in phases. "Consultations will commence next month, while the actual POC will be conducted in July.

Now Telecom has received a grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to support the development of 5G mobile and fixed wireless networks in the Philippines.
