Youku's "1 yuan in the first month" members caused controversy: 24 yuan was deducted from canceling the renewal.
CTOnews.com January 30 news, the recent video site membership service has caused a lot of controversy on the Internet. Not long ago, iqiyi's App restrictions on screen casting and HDMI video transmission caused dissatisfaction among users and was named and criticized by the Shanghai Consumer Protection Commission. Youku also caused a large number of users' dissatisfaction at the end of last year and the beginning of this year by changing the membership rules to restrict member accounts to only one device.
CTOnews.com learned that Youku's "1 yuan member" has caused controversy again recently. According to Shangguan News, Youku Video launched the "first month 1 yuan" member discount recharge activity at the end of 2022, but a number of users reflected that it was only after completing the payment that it found that the pop-up on the corresponding page of Alipay is actually the "Youku Yueyue Province" activity interface. After paying 1 yuan, it defaults to sign a contract for one year. Except for the first month, it will automatically deduct 12 yuan per month. As there is no long-term member demand, many users chose to stop participating in the activity in advance, only to receive a prompt of 24 yuan deduction: "if the task is not completed, the discount will be deducted."
On the pop-up window of "1 yuan in the first month" popup on the home page of Youku video, there is indeed a small print saying "1 yuan / month in the first month and 12 yuan / month in the next 11 months". After clicking on the recharge details page, you can also see that "it has been open for less than 12 months. Pay the difference according to 25 yuan / month".
Such an overbearing and punitive deduction description has made users helpless and angry, and many netizens have said that Youku "tastes ugly". On the black cat complaint platform, there are not a small number of users who believe that Youku has false propaganda and induced consumption. according to the statistics of the platform, there were nearly 400 complaints against Youku's "1 yuan member" in December.
