January 31, according to foreign media reports, South Korea, which owns the Hyundai Automobile Group, is an important automobile manufacturer and exporter in the world. With the increase in the export of new energy vehicles such as electric vehicles with higher prices, South Korean car exports are also on the rise, hitting a new high last year.

South Korean car exports reached $54.1 billion last year (currently about 365.175 billion yuan), exceeding $50 billion for the first time and up 16.4 percent from a year earlier, according to data released by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Monday local time.

South Korean data also show that their car exports exceeded $50 billion last year, related to an increase in exports of new energy vehicles such as electric and hybrid vehicles, pushing up the average price of cars. The average export price of internal combustion vehicles is $20000 (currently about 135000 yuan), while the average export price of new energy vehicles is $30000 (currently about 203000 yuan).

In terms of export volume, South Korean figures show that they exported 2.31 million cars last year, up 13.3% from a year earlier. Of these, 554000 new energy vehicles were exported, an increase of 36.8 percent over the same period last year, with an export value of US $16.1 billion (currently about 108.675 billion yuan), an increase of 38 percent over the same period last year.

Of the new energy vehicles exported, 224000 were pure electric vehicles, up 45.2 percent from the same period last year, and 285000 hybrid vehicles, up 34.5 percent from the same period last year.
