According to CTOnews.com on February 1, a few days ago, video platform iqiyi caused dissatisfaction among many netizens because of its "restrictions on screen casting". It was even named and criticized by the Shanghai Consumer Protection Commission. A user in Guangdong sued iqiyi in court on January 31, and the Beijing Internet Court recently filed a case, Hyundai KuaiBao reported.

According to reports, the user is a 7-year-old fan of iqiyi platform and has been an iqiyi member since 2017. Previously, when using the screen, you can choose any definition, but on January 11, 2023, he found that iqiyi limited the screen definition of gold VIP members to 480p, and if you need higher definition, you must upgrade to a higher level of membership. He believes that iqiyi unilaterally changed the terms of the contract, which has constituted a breach of contract. The user said that he did not ask for civil compensation, but only asked iqiyi not to limit the clarity of the screen in any way during the membership period.

CTOnews.com learned that this is not the first time iqiyi has been involved in a lawsuit. Iqiyi was sued for advanced VOD at the end of 2019, and the plaintiff asked the court to order iqiyi, operated by the defendant, to cancel the advanced VOD function. In 2020, the Beijing Internet Court ruled that the advanced pay-on-demand service launched by iqiyi violated its agreement with users to watch the hit TV series first, and iqiyi constituted a breach of contract and should compensate for the relevant liability for breach of contract. Since then, major video platforms have issued statements to formally cancel advanced VOD.
