CTOnews.com February 1 news, Clem Lefebvre announced that it will launch Linux Mint 21.2 codenamed "Victoria" at the end of June this year, officially providing Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce three desktop environments by default.

Clem Lefebvre said in the official announcement that Linux Mint 21.2 mainly improves the login screen, optimizes the Pix image management program, adds support for HEIF and AVID image formats, and adds support for Adobe Illustrator documents in the Xreader document viewer.

In Linux Mint 21.2, users will be able to switch keyboard layouts on the login screen. Clicking on the indicator in the upper right corner brings up a new menu that displays the default keyboard layout currently selected by the user, and allows the user to select other keyboard layouts.

Pix Image Manager is based on gThumb version number upgraded from 3.2.8 to 3.12.2, introducing new title bar and buttons. CTOnews.com understands that Lefebvre says the UI is "less visible for beginners," but more concise and intuitive.

According to the official update log, this update brings 168 new features and user-visible changes, including better performance, support for AVIF / HEIF and JXL formats, configurable dark mode, and more.
