CTOnews.com, February 1 (Xinhua)-- former Apple designer Jony Ive has created a new red nose to celebrate Red nose Day, an annual Comedy Relief Foundation (Comic Relief) charity TV show broadcast on British television to raise money for the poor and vulnerable.

The nose is made of 95% plant material and is designed with folding paper. It is originally a small flat crescent moon that will bounce into a honeycomb paper ball when opened and can be placed on the nose at any time.

BBC Newsround describes Jony Ive's design as "the most dramatic transformation since Red nose made its debut in 1988".

To launch the nose, comedy relief foundation co-founders Richard Curtis and Sir Lenny Henry hired actress and comedian Diane Morgan to voice a half-joking short film.

In short, Diane Morgan compares the design with the Earth and praises the importance of the "perfect circle" before describing how the new model becomes "the most perfect nose in history."

"this new seemingly simple red nose is a very complex gadget that involves the whole team in design and production," Jony Ive said. "We hope it will bring a little happiness to everyone who wears it."

CTOnews.com learned that the funds raised were called on to support people whose lives are in crisis and to address homelessness, mental health and food scarcity. Last year's comedy relief raised 42790147 pounds ($52735219, currently about 356 million yuan).

The new nose is on sale on Amazon and the Comedy Relief Foundation website. This year's Red nose Day will be held on Friday, March 17. Users can donate via Amazon Pay, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Comedy Relief Foundation.
