Microsoft is testing new features: alerts Win11 when new widgets are available

CTOnews.com February 1 message, widgets can help users better interact with the application, and users can access some information in the program without starting the application, thus improving efficiency and effectiveness. Last year, Microsoft Windows 11 added the ability to install third-party widgets through Microsoft Store, as well as a number of features designed to enhance its user experience, such as notifications in widgets.

Microsoft is now testing a new feature that will help users do more with widgets. As PhantomOfEarth discovered, the widget panel displays a small banner to prompt when a new widget is available to the application (for example, when it is updated through the store and is running). This currently applies to applications installed on Windows 11 devices.

After updating the application, the user may receive a notification highlighting the availability of the application's new widget. This feature is currently available for Windows preview users, and perhaps Microsoft will make it fully available through updates in the future.

CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft Windows 11 users have recently acquired more widgets. Messenger applications become the first third-party widgets to enter Microsoft Store, and Microsoft Dev Channel also provides new widgets for users of Phone Link apps.
