The second generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform (for Galaxy) will be used for all Galaxy S23 models, including models for the European market.

CTOnews.com learned that the biggest difference between the second-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform (for Galaxy) and the standard version is that its CPU and GPU frequencies have increased. The Kryo CPU core of the second generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform (for Galaxy) has been overclocked to 3.36GHz (the standard version is 3.2GHz), and the frequency of Adreno GPU has also increased from 680MHz to 719MHz.

In terms of running points, the single-core score of the Geekbench 5 of the Galaxy S23 series reached 1583, compared with 1480 for the standard version of Snapdragon 8 and 1400-1500 for MediaTek Tianji 9200. The single-core score of the Galaxy S23 series is higher than that of the Android camp, and the multi-core score is also higher than Apple's A15.

As to whether the increase in frequency will lead to heat dissipation, Samsung officials said: "the NPU on [Galaxy S23] has been optimized by more than 40% to balance performance and power consumption. The optimized chipset has contributed to the improvement of battery performance of the Galaxy S23 series, improving its overall power efficiency." Whether it is as described by Samsung, we still need to test the new machine to know.

In addition, Samsung also confirmed that the second generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform (for Galaxy) is manufactured by TSMC and is based on 4nm technology.
