Microsoft is encouraging developers to advertise their apps in the Windows App Store
CTOnews.com, February 3 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft today revealed that the Microsoft App Store advertising program, launched as a pilot project in September 2022, is now available to all app developers.
CTOnews.com learned that the ads will be displayed "in the search results and apps and game tags of the Microsoft Store app on Windows," as shown in the following figure:
According to Microsoft blog posts, developers can now advertise in the store through Microsoft ads, and developers must already have apps in the store before they can launch any advertising campaign through this new program. They can promote a new application through advertising, or make major updates to existing applications. The company also promises competitive cost-per-click (CPC) rates. They can conduct advertising campaigns to put their applications in front of audiences who might like similar applications. For example, a racing game can be advertised in a store for racing game enthusiasts.
In addition, Microsoft said in a separate announcement that all Win32 developers are now allowed to upload their desktop applications for sale in the Microsoft Store, including desktop applications made of .NET, C++, Electron, Flutter, Qt, Rust, etc., which must run on Windows 10 or 11.
