"We announced that free access to v1.1 and v2 versions of Twitter API will no longer be supported from February 9, and we will launch a paid basic package later," the official Twitter developer account tweeted.

CTOnews.com learned that the official Twitter developer account said in a subsequent tweet:

Twitter has hundreds of millions of users and has sent more than 1 trillion tweets, generating billions of tweets every week.

Twitter data is one of the most powerful data sets in the world. We are committed to achieving a rapid and comprehensive visit so that you can work with us to promote and build Twitter.

Twitter began to block third-party clients in January this year. Recently, an update to "Developer Agreement" has been released to make it clear that developers are not allowed to continue to develop third-party Twitter applications. It is explicitly mentioned in the clause that developers are not allowed to "create alternative or similar services / products for Twitter applications".

These third-party Twitter clients may be able to get back up and running through paid Twitter API. But this undoubtedly increases the operating costs of third-party clients, which will eventually be passed on to users.
