CTOnews.com learned that on February 2, the latest retail sales statistics of the Automobile Market Research Branch of the China Automobile Circulation Association (CAA) showed that retail sales totaled 20.543 million vehicles in 2022, an increase of 1.9% over the same period last year. Of this total, 14.868 million fuel vehicles were retail, down 2.302 million from the same period last year; and 5.674 million new energy vehicles, a net increase of 2.687 million over the same period last year.
By the end of 2022, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide reached 13.1 million, accounting for 4.10 percent of the total, and sales excluding scrap injection increased by 5.26 million, or 67.13 percent, compared with 2021, according to China's Ministry of Public Security. Among them, the number of pure electric vehicles is 10.45 million, accounting for 79.78% of the total number of new energy vehicles.
