CTOnews.com, February 6 (Xinhua)-- Google's AR (augmented reality) capability is open to the public, and other vendors can use it to enhance the user experience. For example, Google uses AR in its Lens application to provide functions such as image translation. In addition, you can use Google AR in the Google Maps app to find directions.

To introduce the same AR functionality to third-party applications, Google uses its ARCore Software Development Kit (SDK) to authenticate devices, including phones and tablets. Now Google has added 15 Samsung Galaxy devices to the ARCore list. In order to obtain ARCore certification, smart phones must meet the performance benchmarks of camera operation, CPU function, sensor accuracy and so on.

The last time Google updated the list of ARCore devices was in July 2022. The following is a list of 15 ARCore-certified Samsung devices:

CTOnews.com learned that the latest Google ARCore list does not include Samsung's recently launched high-end flagship products Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 + or Galaxy S23 Ultra. This is not to say that these devices cannot be Google ARCore certified because they are equipped with state-of-the-art hardware, but the exact reason is not clear. It is only a matter of time before the Galaxy S23 series is expected to appear on the ARCore certification list.
