Promising mining concessions and tax breaks, Indonesia's president says he is doing his best to persuade Musk to build a factory on the island

According to news reported on February 6, Beijing time, Indonesia has great ambitions for the electric car industry. "I am very confident that this industry will develop rapidly and will develop very fast," President Joko Widodo said in a recent interview. " Indonesia's president said he was making every effort to persuade Musk to produce Tesla cars or batteries in Indonesia.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo, according to the US Geological Survey, Indonesia has a total of 21 million tons of proven nickel reserves, which is almost 1/4 of the world's reserves, with the world's largest nickel reserves and nickel ore export ban. Is becoming an integral part of the electric vehicle industry. In the past three years, Indonesia has reached cooperation with Hyundai Motor, LG Group and Foxconn.

Indonesia's president says the next step is to reach a partnership with giant Tesla, the world's most valuable carmaker. Efforts are being made to persuade Musk to produce Tesla cars or batteries in Indonesia.

As demand for electric cars surges, Indonesia is expected to account for half of global nickel production growth between 2021 and 2025, according to the Tesla factory. Musk aims to sell 20 million electric vehicles in 2030, 15 times more than in 2022, so it needs to build seven or eight more "super factories".

Last week, Indonesia's president said he even offered Tesla nickel mining concessions and tax breaks for investment in the country, and he believes a deal will eventually be reached.

At present, Tesla has not commented on any firm plans of Indonesia.
