CTOnews.com February 6 news, Cainiao and Deutsche Post DHL Group (hereinafter referred to as DHL) announced that DHL will acquire part of Cainiao's Polish subsidiary. The two sides plan to jointly invest 60 million euros (currently about 442 million yuan) in the first phase to continue to build a local distribution network and further expand the coverage of the intelligent bootstrap network, with the goal of building the largest bootstrap network in Poland.

Poland is one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in Europe. CTOnews.com learned that DHL data show that Poland's e-commerce market is expected to double in size in 2027, with 40% of consumers preferring to use pick-up cabinets to pick up packages.

According to reports, Cainiao has been accelerating the layout of logistics in Europe in recent years. For example, Cainiao has previously opened a distribution center in Warsaw, Poland, and initially formed an overall logistics infrastructure in Northeast Europe. The distribution centers can cooperate with each other to achieve sorting, package collection, and transit, and finally reach consumers through end-of-home distribution and self-pick-up outlets to further optimize logistics timeliness.

As the first step of cooperation, Cainiao and DHL will merge the existing network of pick-up cabinets in Poland and jointly operate the existing 1200 sets of pick-up cabinets. At the same time, based on the existing self-pick-up points of DHL in Poland, the two sides plan to continue to expand the network of self-pick-up cabinets and lay easy-to-use intelligent self-pick-up cabinets at key locations. At present, DHL has covered more than 90,000 pick-up points in Europe.
