According to CTOnews.com news on February 7, Activision Blizzard today announced its results for the fourth quarter of 2022. Activision Blizzard's revenue for the quarter was 2.3 billion US dollars, up 7.9 percent from a year earlier. Net income was 403 million US dollars, down 28.5% from the same period last year, and the number of monthly active users was 389 million, up 4.85% from the same period last year.

Activision Blizzard's revenue for the whole of 2022 was $7.5 billion, down 14.5% from a year earlier. Net income was $1.5 billion, down 43.9% from a year earlier (see CTOnews.com 's previous report for details).

Activision said at the earnings report that call of Duty 19: modern Warfare 2022 performed well. Activision says part of the success can be attributed to the series' return to the V Society's Steam platform over the years, as well as the new DMZ model.

Outside of PC and mainframe, call of Duty's net bookings hit an all-time high, while achieving double-digit year-on-year growth.

Officials have also confirmed that they plan to launch a "full annual premium version" of the call of Duty series this fall.

Of course, although the game has launched a new game almost every year since call of Duty 2, for some people it is simply "sewing and mending" and "fried rice". Considering that COD19 will have a two-year life cycle, many fans believe that the next call of Duty will not arrive until 2024.

According to Activision, the next call of Duty series is likely to be a completely new game, at least not a large-scale DLC extension of Modern Warfare 2.
