Net profit for the fiscal third quarter ended December 31, 2022 was 115.78 billion yen, compared with a previous estimate of 155.94 billion yen. Nintendo's third-quarter operating profit is 190.15 billion yen, with an estimated 240.28 billion yen.

Nintendo cut its consolidated operating profit forecast for the current period (as of March 2023) to 480 billion yen from 500 billion yen, below the market average forecast of 580.6 billion yen, and revenue will fall 19% from the same period last year. At the same time, it lowered its hardware sales target from 21 million to 19 million.

In other words, Nintendo lowered its Switch sales target for the current fiscal year from 19 million to 18 million and NS game sales from 210m to 205m, with full-year net sales of 1.6 trillion yen, compared with a previous forecast of 1.65 trillion yen.

It is worth mentioning that the president of Nintendo also stressed that their Switch has no plans to raise prices.

Nintendo competes with PlayStation maker Sony Group and Xbox maker Microsoft. CTOnews.com learned that Nintendo sold a total of 14.91 million Switch consoles in the nine months ended December 31, compared with 18.95 million in the same period last year.

Sales of Switch have exceeded 100 million units throughout its life cycle, and sales of games have reached 90 million copies. Nintendo said that the game "Bao Ke Meng Zhu Zi", which has been on sale for only two months, has made it into the top 10 of the Switch game sales list.
