Microsoft brings new features to PowerPoint to provide hidden subtitles for audio files
CTOnews.com, Feb. 8-Microsoft is introducing a new feature for PowerPoint applications on Mac and Windows to support hidden subtitles (closed caption) for audio files in presentations. This tool makes it easier for hearing-impaired users to access audio components in PowerPoint.
Hidden subtitles on PowerPoint can be added to video projects on Windows and Mac. In addition, users on both platforms can add subtitles to their audio projects. With closed subtitles, users who view a presentation on a Microsoft Office application can better understand what is in the presentation.
It is also worth noting that users can also create hidden subtitles in separate files in WebVTT format. This is important because it allows users to insert subtitles into their projects later.
The tool is currently available in the preview of Beta channels on the following platforms:
Windows: version 2302 (build 16130.20020) or later
Mac: version 16.71 (build 23012902) or later
IOS: version 2.71 (build 23013100) or later

Closed subtitles are subtitles in TV programs or DVDs for viewers with special circumstances or needs, such as the audience is hard of hearing or needs to watch the program without sound. At this time, some explanatory language can be used in the subtitles to describe the content of the program. In addition, the cover-up between the subtitles can be excluded.
Closed Captions (CC) is a standardized coding method for adding text to NTSC TV signals. The built-in decoder or independent decoder of the TV can display text.
