Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, February 8 (Xinhua)-- South Korean bank card company Hyundai Card has confirmed that it will work with Apple to bring Apple Pay to its customers after obtaining approval from financial regulators.
Apple Pay will be launched in South Korea nearly a decade after it was first launched in the United States. CTOnews.com learned that the region is currently dominated by Samsung's Samsung Pay mobile payments in South Korea.
Now, local regulators have approved Apple Pay under certain conditions, and Hyundai, a local credit card company, has confirmed its intention to take the lead in bringing it to market. However, Hyundai Card did not say when to start supporting Apple Pay.
"We look forward to working with Apple to bring Apple Pay to South Korea," a Hyundai Card spokesman said in a statement. "We will share more details in the coming months."
Apple has confirmed its launch, saying "we look forward to bringing Apple Pay to Korea", but added that details will be announced later.
Hyundai Card had expected to launch products that support Apple Pay in November 2022. But at that time, the South Korean Financial Regulatory Authority postponed it, saying it needed to be reviewed.
