CTOnews.com, February 9, just one day after Microsoft announced that its new Edge browser and Bing search engine integrated ChatGPT, there was a huge demand for new applications. Bing apps and Edge browsers for iOS skyrocketed in the App Store rankings.

Analysis from data.ai shows that global downloads of Bing apps soared tenfold overnight. That makes the app the tenth most popular free app on Apple's App Store list, making it the second most popular free productivity app after Gmail. At the same time, CTOnews.com notes that its iOS version of Edge browser also ranks third among utility applications.

By contrast, Bing Apps previously ranked 160th in productivity apps, not even on Apple's overall list of free apps.

Although Microsoft has officially launched a new web and search experience and integrated ChatGPT-like features, users must add a waiting list to get a new smart experience.

Microsoft will give priority to users who download Bing apps or set Bing as the default search on personal computers. The company said that "millions" of people on the waiting list would be invited to try new AI integration experiences "in the coming weeks".
