Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Brother Black fly's left hand clue delivery! CTOnews.com, February 9 (Xinhua)-- Global smartphone shipments fell to a record in 2022, the worst annual performance since 2013, according to a Counterpoint Research report. Apple's operating profit hit a record high, returning to the first place with an 85% share.

Although shipments rose 1 per cent month-on-month to 3.039 billion units in the fourth quarter of 2022, they fell 18 per cent year-on-year, indicating that the global smartphone market is still under pressure, the lowest since 2013, according to the latest research from the Counterpoint market monitoring service. Shipments also fell to 1.2 billion units in 2022, the worst annual performance since 2013.

Affected by shipments, global smartphone revenue and operating profits have also declined, but the decline is smaller than the decline in shipments. Major OEM manufacturers have enriched the portfolio of high-end handsets, driving overall average selling price (ASP) growth of 5 per cent year-on-year in 2022. Revenue fell 9%, causing smartphone revenue to fall to $409 billion (currently about 2.78 trillion yuan), the lowest level since 2017.

CTOnews.com found that Apple's 1 per cent growth reversed a bigger decline, becoming the only brand among the top five smartphone OEM makers to grow, and even achieved its best global share of shipments, revenue and operating profits in 2022, with operating profits returning to first place with 85 per cent.
