CTOnews.com February 11, Reuters quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that Apple will hold a private hearing next Tuesday to find ways to convince EU antitrust regulators that "the company has not prevented competitors from using its technology for mobile wallets."

Reuters pointed out that this is the company's last chance to defend itself before facing a huge fine. European Commission and national competition officials, Apple executives and complainants will attend the hearing.

Nine months ago, EU competition regulators accused Apple of abusing its dominant market power to force app developers to use the company's payment system. EU antitrust regulators say Apple's anticompetitive practices date back to the launch of Apple Pay in 2015.

Apple did not respond positively to this, but once again referred to its statement last year, emphasizing that "Apple Pay is only one of many options available to European consumers and ensures that they can use their NFC technology equally."

It is worth mentioning that if the European Court of Justice still finds Apple involved in monopoly after this hearing, the company may face a fine of up to 10% of its global turnover. As for what happens next, wait for CTOnews.com to explain next week.
