Cloud service providers such as Meta, Microsoft, Google and AWS are delaying upgrading their data centers because of rising costs. The total cost of ownership of the new server product (all costs incurred in purchasing, installing, running, and maintaining the IT infrastructure) is higher than expected. CTOnews.com learned that Intel recently launched the fourth-generation Xeon CPU, but the speed is slower than expected, which is also one of the reasons for the slow adoption of DDR5 in the server memory market.

According to Omdia, DDR5 will account for only 3 per cent of the server DRAM market in the first quarter and 8 per cent in the second quarter. That proportion will jump to 15% in the third quarter and then to 24% in the fourth quarter.
