CTOnews.com February 12 news, Meta announced as early as October 2021 to buy VR fitness content developer Within, but has been blocked by the Federal Trade Commission FTC antitrust investigation, but the matter finally ended today in 2023.

Within announced on February 9 that the company has officially become a member of Meta Reality Labs.

CTOnews.com previously reported that in July 2022, FTC attempted to monopolize the VR content market with Meta through the acquisition of "Beat Saber" developer Beat Games and "Supernatural" developer Within, when Meta agreed to postpone the acquisition to give FTC more time to investigate.

On February 2, the deal was finally approved by the court, and FTC was accused of failing to block Meta's acquisition of Within on the grounds of an investigation.

For Meta, the company is looking for high-quality content that can expand meta-universe, and Within's work happens to add fitness and subscription revenue to Meta.

From FTC's point of view, this is the first defeat of Lina Khan, the new chairman of FTC. But then there is another battle in which Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard, and it is believed that FTC will do its best to play a regulatory role.
