It is reported that due to yield and patent problems, BOE is unlikely to replace Samsung as the top screen supplier of iPhone 16.

By 2024, BOE will start shipping high-end LTPO displays to iPhone on a large scale, making it the largest display supplier, possibly accounting for 70 per cent of the iPhone 16 series models.
However, due to technical and patent problems, BOE is expected to find it difficult to significantly increase iPhone OLED shipments this year and overtake Samsung to become the top screen supplier of Apple's iPhone 16, according to South Korean media The Elec.
According to the report, BOE's OLED screen yield has been lower than that of Samsung display (Samsung Display) and LG Display display (LG). In addition, Samsung's patent infringement warning may be another big pressure on BOE.
CTOnews.com learned from the report that Samsung Display supplies screens for all four models for the iPhone 15 series, while LG Display supplies screens for both iPhone 15 Pro models. BOE supplies OLED screens for an iPhone 15 series.
This year's iPhone 15 series will be based on thin film field effect transistor (TFT) technology, with two standard iPhone 15 models (6.1in and 6.7in) using cryogenic polysilicon (LTPS) technology and two iPhone 15 Pro models (6.1in and 6.7in) using cryogenic polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology. Compared with LTPS process, LTPO has lower power consumption and higher technical difficulty.
BOE expects to provide LTPS-type OLED panels for iPhone 15 Standard Edition, but LTPO-type OLED panels for iPhone 16 Pro models to be launched next year.
