Microsoft released the latest report to promote the Blizzard acquisition: the launch of Xbox Game Pass does not boost game sales
CTOnews.com February 14, Microsoft Xbox helm Phil Spencer (Phil Spencer) said in 2018, YouTube channel Levelup.com interview, "extreme Speed: horizon 4" as the representative of the game into the Xbox Game Pass, will cover more gamers, but also boost game sales. But according to the latest documents released by Microsoft, the opposite is true.
Microsoft recently disclosed documents about Xbox Game Pass to British competition regulator CMA in an effort to persuade regulators to approve its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. CTOnews.com learned from the CMA report that although the official figures were deleted, Microsoft said that sales of basic games declined 12 months after adding basic games to Game Pass.
Microsoft did say in its submission to CMA that a certain percentage of Xbox Game Pass users bought complete games on the service within a year after they stopped subscribing to Game Pass. Spencer said recently that Xbox Game Pass is now profitable for Microsoft, with 15 per cent of its game revenue coming from subscription services.
CMA has asked Microsoft and Activision Blizzard to respond to their preliminary reports later in February and will release a final report on whether to approve the acquisition in April.
