IRobot, maker of floor-sweeping robots, will lay off about 7% of its staff.

CTOnews.com, February 15 (Xinhua)-- according to the Wall Street Journal, layoffs have swept the technology industry. IRobot, maker of the Roomba floor sweeping robot, announced on Monday local time that it would cut about 7 per cent of its workforce.

In its fourth-quarter and full-year results released on Monday, iRobot said it had begun to implement a new restructuring plan. The plan includes layoffs, which will affect about 85 employees.

CTOnews.com has learned that the new restructuring plan is reported to be a follow-up to the business restructuring that took place in August 2022. IRobot's plan for this year includes a minimum of hiring and a reduction in media collaboration and other demand-mining activities.

"iRobot's 2023 business plan includes reduced media collaboration and other demand mining activities, restrictions on investment in non-robotic product categories, and a minimum new recruitment plan for 2023," iRobot said.
