CTOnews.com, February 15, according to CNBC, a member of Tesla's board of directors said CEO Elon Musk said he did not mind Tesla going bankrupt if rival companies could build better cars.

"I don't agree with Elon that I don't mind Tesla going bankrupt if someone else launches a better car," Hiromichi Mizuno, former chief investment officer of the Japanese government pension investment fund, told CNBC's Dan Murphy at a world government summit on Tuesday. I think this is his idea, but also the idea of Tesla. " Mizuno was elected to join Tesla's board of directors in April 2020.

Musk has previously said that Tesla has been on the verge of bankruptcy many times in his nearly 20-year history. In November 2020, Musk said that between mid-2017 and mid-2019, the company had "only about a month" to go bankrupt in the process of producing Model 3 cars.

CTOnews.com learned that in a separate interview with Tesla car owners' Club, Musk also said that keeping the company from bankruptcy was his biggest concern.

In addition to Tesla, Musk runs many other projects, including rocket company SpaceX, and he bought Twitter last year. On Musk's growing workload, Mizuno joked that he was not sure whether the mysterious billionaire was "human or alien." However, Mizuno supported Musk and said he admired the tech giant's tenacity.

Mr Mizuno added that while Tesla had made significant progress in producing and selling hundreds of thousands of cars, delivering 1.31 million last year, more than 80 per cent of the industry's sales still came from non-all-electric vehicles.
