It is reported that the revenue of Microsoft's communications application Skype has dropped by 74.5% and its profit has dropped by 93% in the past ten years.

CTOnews.com, February 15, according to the French technology media L'Inform é, the revenue of Skype, a communications application owned by Microsoft, has plummeted by 74.5% in the past decade. According to the report, Skype's total revenue fell from $722 million in 2013 to $184.3 million in 2022.

Microsoft said in its latest quarterly results that consumer demand for Skype has fallen sharply, indicating a significant reduction in the number of calls users make using the platform.

More importantly, the platform's annual profits have also been affected, from $90.8 million to $6.35 million. This is equivalent to a decline of 93% in the past 10 years.

Microsoft is also updating its Skype application to natively support M1 Mac devices in the latest release of 8.94.76.302. CTOnews.com previously reported that the response time of the new Skype adapted to the M1 chip is about 1/3 of that of the previous version. The response time of the old version is about 200ms, while that of the new version is about 70ms.
