BMW will cooperate with Valeo to develop L4 automatic parking system

On February 15, according to foreign media reports, BMW announced on Tuesday local time that it would cooperate with its parts supplier Valeo to develop a Level 4-level automatic parking system called automatic valet parking (AVP).

The so-called "automatic valet parking" is designed to provide a fully automated and unmanned parking experience. It is reported that models based on the special electric vehicle platform of German carmaker Neue Klasse will be the first to adopt this technology.

This cooperation will raise the automation cooperation between the two sides to a new level. Earlier, in June 2022, BMW and Valeo announced a partnership to develop controllers, sensors and parking software for autopilot assistance systems.

BMW is not the first company to launch such a system. At the end of last year, Mercedes-Benz announced the launch of the PARK PILOT Level 4 automatic valet parking system, becoming the first company to launch such a system.

BMW's automatic parking system, similar to Mercedes-Benz's PARK PILOT or Tesla's Smart Summon, is not yet available to customers, nor did the company say when it will be put into use.

At present, some high-end BMW models, including the new 7-Series, can park automatically with the help of Manoeuvre Assistant.
