Musk is close to the title of the richest man in the world again, only $3 billion short.

CTOnews.com, February 16 (Xinhua) as Tesla's share price has risen 74% this year, Elon Musk's wealth was overtaken by Bernard Arnault in December last year and is on the verge of regaining his title as the world's richest man.

However, Musk may take longer to overtake the French luxury giant after he disclosed this week that he had donated 11.6 million Tesla shares to charity between August and December. According to the closing price of Musk endowment securities, the shares are worth about $1.9 billion.

As of February 14, Musk was worth $187 billion, just $3 billion less than Arnault's $190 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

But the wealth gap is greater than that, according to Forbes' real-time billionaire tracker, which puts Mr Musk's net worth at $197.9 billion, while Mr Arnault and his family have a net worth of $216.8 billion.

CTOnews.com learned that Musk's net worth peaked at $300 billion in 2021. He is Tesla's largest individual shareholder and owns about 74 per cent of Twitter. Other sources of Musk's wealth include SpaceX, the rocket company he co-founded, which was valued at $127 billion in May 2022.
