TikTok said that the number of monthly active users in Europe has exceeded 150 million and is considering building a third data center here.
CTOnews.com, February 17 (Xinhua)-- according to the Wall Street Journal, social media platform TikTok is in charge of TikTok Information Technologies UK Ltd, a subsidiary operated in the UK, the European Economic area and Switzerland. According to the filing, TikTok, which is owned by byte Jump, is in the advanced stages of planning a second data centre in Ireland and is in talks to set up a third data centre somewhere in continental Europe "to cope with the growth of the community".
TikTok also disclosed that it already has 125 million monthly active users in the European Union. If non-EU countries, including the UK and Switzerland, are included, the number of monthly active users across Europe has exceeded 150 million. As part of the EU's new Digital Services Law, the group set Friday as the deadline for online platforms to report the total number of users.
TikTok has not disclosed the exact location of the third data center it plans to build in Europe. TikTok said it stores global user data in Singapore and the US, but will start moving European data to its European site this year.
CTOnews.com learned that last year byte jumps officially did not release the latest global monthly active users figures for TikTok. However, according to professional forecasts, the number of global monthly active users of TikTok will exceed 1.5 billion by the end of 2022.
