Sony Music Entertainment acquires all recorded music tracks of Bob Dylan

CTOnews.com Sony Music Entertainment (SME) announced today that SME has completed the acquisition of all Bob Dylan recordings and the distribution rights to several future works.

Bob Dylan and SME will continue to work together and have reissued his famous best-selling Bootleg Series in January. Since 1991, the series has released 14 albums, including the popular Springtime In New York: The Bootleg Series Vol. 16 (1980-1985), released in 2021. After the agreement was reached, SMEs were also given the opportunity to collaborate with Bob Dylan on other projects.

The year 2022 marks the 60th anniversary of Bob Dylan's extraordinary career as a singer. In October 1961, he was signed by John Hammond of SME's Colombia label, and recorded his debut album the same year. His Bob Dylan album marks the start of an unparalleled musical journey by a music guru who continues to have a profound impact on global culture.

Bob Dylan is one of the most influential and groundbreaking artists of his time. In the 1960s, he began to emerge in the folk circle of Greenwich Village, New York, and has sold more than 125 million records worldwide. In 2016, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature by the Swedish Academy, becoming the first songwriter to win the prize, and the jury considered him "to have created a new poetic mood in the great American folk tradition."
