CTOnews.com February 17, Microsoft has released the Edge 111browser for internal testers on Beta Channel. This update enhances browser security, adds new policies for IE mode and upcoming mouse gestures, and removes flag that enables partial mica Mica effects.

Here's what's new.

The improvement of the new function enhanced security mode. The enhanced security mode now supports WebAssembly for MacOS x64 and Linux x64. More cross-platform (ARM64) support is expected in the future.

A new policy for clearing IE schema data when the browser exits. The InternetExplorerModeClearDataOnExitEnabled policy controls whether browsing history is deleted from InternetExplorer and InternetExplorer modes each time Microsoft Edge is turned off. Users can also configure this setting in the option "clear browsing data for Internet Explorer" in the Privacy, search, and Services menu of Settings (edge://settings/privacy).

CTOnews.com learned that another noteworthy change in Microsoft's Edge 111Beta beta is the removal of flag that enables mica effects on toolbars and tabs. Microsoft did not explain why it decided to abandon the improved visual effects. Maybe this has something to do with upcoming browser changes with rounded corners, split screens (available in Edge stable), and other features.

Users can download Microsoft Edge 111Beta from the official Edge Insider website. The stable version of Edge 111will be released in the week of March 9, 2023.
