CTOnews.com, February 20 (Reuters)-Uber will introduce 25000 electric vehicles in India and use them in its ride sharing business within three years, according to Reuters. This is the first step for the company to adopt clean cars.

The electric cars will be purchased by Uber fleet partners from Tata Motors, India's largest electric carmaker, according to Prabhjeet Singh, president of Uber India and South Asia.

Singh pointed out that this will be an important catalyst for accelerating the ecosystem of electric vehicles. The Indian government is promoting the electrification of shared taxis, which is currently dominated by blusmmart, Uber's local competitor and electric travel start-up, the report said.

Uber's revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022 was $8.6 billion (currently about 59.168 billion yuan), up 49 per cent from a year earlier, according to financial data. Net profit attributable to Uber is $595 million (currently about 4.094 billion yuan).

CTOnews.com reported that Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in January that the company was working with manufacturers to develop vehicles optimized for urban use, passenger transport and delivery. For online ride-hailing, this includes passenger cars with a lower maximum speed and passengers can sit face to face.
