Russian Aerospace Group: "Progress MS-21" cargo ship damaged due to external factors

CTOnews.com, February 21, according to the Russian satellite news agency, the Russian Aerospace Group said today that the temperature control system of the "progressive MS-21" cargo spacecraft malfunctioned due to damage caused by external action.

Preliminary information indicates that the Progress MS-21 spacecraft is subject to the same external effects as the previous Alliance MS-22 spacecraft. Photos taken by astronauts on February 18 show changes in the spacecraft's appearance, discovering holes that have never been recorded before.

Russian media pointed out that within two months, two very similar anomalies occurred on the International Space Station. Last December, the cooling system of the Soyuz MS-22 manned spacecraft leaked after a micrometeorite impact.

In addition, the Russian National Space Group said that the Soyuz MS-23 spacecraft launch is scheduled for February 24, February 26 docking with the International Space Station.

CTOnews.com has reported that the unburned wreckage of the Progressive MS-21 cargo ship leaked from the cooling system crashed into non-navigational waters of the Pacific Ocean on February 19. After leaving the space station on February 18, in order to determine the cause of the seal failure of the cooling system of the Progress MS-21, after the spacecraft left the space station, the astronauts turned to the spacecraft in the remote control operation mode and took more photos of the damaged parts.
