CTOnews.com, February 22, Uber announced today that it is updating its iPhone application to support real-time events in more than 1200 cities around the world after months of testing. The new version of Uber App is available on Apple's App Store.

Real-time activity is a feature of iOS 16 that allows users to keep track of real-time events on all iPhone lock screens and on the smart islands of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. This feature will make it easier for iPhone users to track the real-time progress of Uber orders at a glance on the lock screen without opening the application, including the latest arrival time, travel status, vehicle description and license plate number. IPhone 14 Pro users can view the same information through Smart Island.

As early as the WWDC22 developer conference, Apple announced that Uber will support real-time events, and the feature has been tested in some countries since the end of last year. With the latest updates to Uber applications, this feature will be available all over the world.

According to a spokesman for Uber, the Uber Eats app "in the coming months" will also support real-time activities for food delivery.

Other popular third-party App that supports real-time activities include Flighty tracking flights, Citymapper public transport, ParkMobile parking, CARROT Weather weather forecasts, and the upcoming Google Maps turn navigation. Domestic ele.me, Youku, Amap, Baidu map, KFC, McDonald's and so on have adapted to iPhone lock screen and smart island real-time activity characteristics.
