CTOnews.com, February 25, according to Korean media reports, Chemtronics Electronics has become the exclusive supplier in the Samsung display (Samsung Display) supply chain, responsible for providing post-processing etching process (post-process etching process) for Apple iPad with OLED panels.

Apple is expected to launch iPad products with OLED panels in 2024, and Chemtronics is expected to accelerate its future growth in the eighth-generation OLED market by exclusively responsible for the iPad OLED post-processing etching process in the Samsung display supply chain.

It is reported that Chemtronics will be exclusively responsible for the post-processing etching process of iPad to make the glass substrate of the OLED panel thinner. Apple is expected to release two OLED iPad panels, Samsung monitors and LG monitors, for the first time next year, which are made on the sixth-generation OLED production line.

Apple's upcoming OLED panel iPad will use a "hybrid OLED" panel, combining the glass substrate used in the existing rigid OLED and the thin film package (TFE) used in the flexible OLED. The current OLED iPhone is a flexible OLED packaged with polyimide (PI) substrate and thin film.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that after Samsung showed that the OLED deposition and packaging process for Apple's iPad (to protect the OLED from moisture and oxygen), Chemtronics was etched to flatten the glass substrate under the panel.

Samsung Display and LG Display must make 0.5 T (mm) thick glass into 0.2 T thick "UT substrate" to meet Apple's "hybrid OLED" requirements. Chemtronics is responsible for the etching process required here.
