KDE and GNOME join hands to reshape Flatpak Brand: a neutral Linux App Store

The GNOME Foundation and KDE e.V have been collaborating since Flathub was launched in 2017 to refine and improve the software library, which has grown considerably over the past few years.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that promoting the sustainable development of Flathub through regular donations or subscription systems will mainly bring about the following changes:

They intend to establish a new legal entity Flathub LLC to own and operate the service. The goal is to "establish transparent governance processes, maintain community trust and accountability, and establish advisory board/sponsorship processes to attract commercial sponsorship along with our grant applications."

Their budget for this year is $200,000, of which $120,000 is for salaries for engineers and audit/operations staff,$30,000 is for legal management and other expenses, and $50,000 is for the development of the software platform itself.
