CTOnews.com February 28, the Vulkan 1.3.242 specification was released recently, and the most noteworthy new feature in addition to optimizing existing code is the introduction of extension support for VK_NV_low_latency.

The VK_NV_low_latency extension adds a new structure (VkQueryLowLatencySupportNV) that initially supports Nvidia's Reflex technology.

CTOnews.com Lecture: NVIDIA Reflex is a set of techniques used to optimize and measure latency in competitive games, designed to reduce and measure rendering latency.

By integrating directly with the game, Reflex low-latency mode allows the game engine to complete rendering tasks in real time, thus eliminating the queuing of GPU rendering and reducing CPU backpressure. This provides lower latency than existing driver-only technologies, such as NVIDIA ultra-low latency mode.
