China Mobile 400G all-optical network sets a record for ultra-long distance transmission

CTOnews.com March 3 news, at the China Mobile Computing Network 400G all-Optical Network Technology pilot Phase Summary and Industry Promotion Seminar held on March 2, China Mobile released the world's longest distance 400G optical transmission existing network technology pilot network, and put forward a proposal to accelerate the development of 400G high-speed optical transmission industry.

This transmission network spans Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou provinces, involving 45 optical amplifier segments, realizing 5616 km ultra-long distance land real-time existing network transmission, and setting a new transmission distance record for 400G QPSK (orthogonal phase shift keying) non-electric relay existing network.

Currently, China Mobile operates the world's largest 100G OTN (Optical Transport Network) network. The verified computing network 400G all-optical network technology will provide strong support for faster transmission speed, larger capacity and lower delay of computing network services.

CTOnews.com learned from data released by China Mobile that compared with 100G OTN (Optical Transport Network) network, 400G system bandwidth increased fourfold, turning transmission "single lane" into "four lanes", saving more than 10% of power consumption and reducing latency by 10%.

Duan Xiaodong, deputy dean of China Mobile Research Institute, said that the release of the phased results of 400G technology trials and the proposed long-distance 400G QPSK technology route is an important milestone in the intergenerational evolution of optical transmission technology from 100G to 400G.
