CTOnews.com, March 6 (Xinhua)-- Apple has approved an update to an ChatGPT-based app after a preliminary review of whether the app may produce content that is inappropriate for children, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Ben Volach, co-founder of Blix, the developer of the app called BlueMail, said the app was approved after developers guaranteed it had content filtering capabilities.

CTOnews.com reported on March 2 that Apple took steps to block updates to BlueMail because of concerns that new artificial intelligence features in the app might display inappropriate content. BlueMail's new artificial intelligence feature uses OpenAI's latest ChatGPT chat robot to help users automatically write emails based on previous email and calendar events.

Apple suggested at the time that the app add content filtering or limit the age requirement to 17 and above. Previously, the app was applicable to people aged 4 and above.

Blix told Apple that the update included content filtering and suggested that Apple should disclose new policies on the use of ChatGPT or other similar artificial intelligence systems in applications. On Thursday night, the update to BlueMail was approved without any changes. The application is still applicable to users aged 4 and above.
