UMC accumulated combined revenue of 36.52 billion yuan in the first two months of this year, down 11.53% from the same period last year, but still the second highest in the same period.

Tuyuan Pexels said earlier that it would continue to adjust inventory and maintain the expected decline this quarter. Wafer shipments fell by 17% in the quarter, and the growth rate fell from 90% to 70%. Gross profit margin was also affected by the decline in capacity utilization, which will fall to about 343.36% from 42.9% in the previous quarter. It is estimated that it will fall to a seven-quarter low.

In addition, UMC's wafer output in the first quarter also dropped to 2.52 million wafers (8-inch wafers) due to correction factors, a decrease of 0.8% compared with the previous quarter.

Wang Shi, general manager of UMC, pointed out that this year, the global economy is weak, the number of customer inventory days is higher than normal, and the visibility of orders is low, and it is expected that the operation in the first quarter will be full of multiple challenges, but it is optimistic that UMC can grasp the demand driven by the continuous digital transformation across industries, and is still optimistic about long-term operating development, and it is expected that automotive IC will continue to be an important growth momentum in the future.
