According to CTOnews.com news on March 6, according to a report from Shenzhen Factory, Wang Xing, founder, chairman and CEO of Meituan, announced in an internal email this afternoon that after S-team research, it has been decided that the ride-hailing business will be transferred from an independent division to a platform business and transferred to the Meituan platform, under the charge of Li Shubin, and reported to him by Zhang Xingyuan, the person in charge of ride-hailing.

Wang Xing said that the online ride-hailing business will reduce resources and manpower investment, travel light, and continue to provide services for consumers. Some of the existing teams will stay in online car-hailing, and the rest will be deployed to other lines of business in batches.

CTOnews.com noted that this is another structural adjustment after Meituan split the intelligent transportation platform into two major divisions: taxi hailing and unmanned vehicle distribution at the end of November 2020. This also means that the degree of attention paid to the taxi-hailing business within Meituan has decreased significantly.
