Report: American adults watch TikTok every day close to Netflix, ranking second
CTOnews.com, March 6 (Xinhua)-- Chinese short video platform TikTok is close to streaming giant Netflix in terms of daily time spent by American adults, and surpasses Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, according to a report released by Insider Intelligence on Thursday.
The report points out that TikTok overtook YouTube two years ago and continues to grow at a faster rate, especially among higher-income American adults.
"the time spent by American adult users on TikTok is rising rapidly," the market research institute said in a report. "
According to Insider Intelligence, TikTok is not only popular with teenagers, but also attracts millennials and Generation X. American adults between the ages of 25 and 54 will spend an average of nearly 56 minutes a day on TikTok, just six minutes less than Netflix.
"the total time people spend on social networks continues to increase as a result of COVID-19 's epidemic, and TikTok is one of the major factors," the report said. "
Insider Intelligence predicts that users over the age of 18 will spend an average of 58 minutes a day on TikTok. By comparison, the YouTube is 48.7 minutes. Netflix is still the leader for 62 minutes.
